Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde has been hit with a one-game suspension following the RFEF Disciplinary Committee’s latest round of sanctions. Despite referee Munuera Montero’s report suggesting a lengthier spell on the sidelines, the Uruguayan escaped a two-match ban, though Los Blancos’ appeal was ultimately dismissed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Madrid derby never fails to deliver, and the fallout from Sunday’s clash between Real Madrid and Atletico is still reverberating through the capital as controversy continues to swirl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, the RFEF’s ‘Review Time’ programme dissected the match’s most contentious moments\u2014a broadcast that did little to appease Atletico, who took to social media to voice their frustrations at the officiating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All eyes turned to Wednesday for the verdict on Fede Valverde’s dismissal. While Real Madrid moved to appeal the red card, their efforts were officially rebuffed this afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nevertheless, the RFEF’s Disciplinary Committee opted for a degree of leniency, restricting the Uruguayan midfielder’s suspension to a single match. Consequently, Valverde is set to miss only the post-international break encounter with Mallorca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ruling comes as something of a relief for the player, given that referee Munuera Montero’s match report had paved the way for a potential two-game ban. The official’s report noted: “In the 77th minute, player (8) VALVERDE DIPETTA, FEDERICO SANTIAGO was sent off for the following reason: For kicking an opponent, not being within playing distance, using excessive force.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
