Nahuel Molina, Leandro Paredes, Thiago Almada, and Lionel Scaloni&#8217;s assistant Roberto Fabian Ayala face charges of assault and unsporting behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has launched disciplinary proceedings against the Argentine Football Association (AFA), targeting several players and Spain international Gavi. The decision follows the incidents that occurred after the final whistle of the 2026 Mundial, held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey (United States).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to world football&#8217;s governing body, and based on the report from the ethics inspector appointed for the case, the process covers Argentina internationals Nahuel Molina, Leandro Paredes, and Thiago Almada, as well as Roberto Fabian Ayala, a member of the &#8216;Albiceleste&#8217; coaching staff. Spanish midfielder Gavi is likewise targeted by the investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regarding the Argentine federation, the committee is analyzing potential violations of Article 13, concerning the use of sporting events for non-sporting demonstrations; Article 14, for improper conduct; Article 15, relating to discrimination and racist acts; and Article 17, focused on venue order and security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This latter point involves discriminatory chants and gestures, kick-off delays, failure to comply with security protocols, the display of inappropriate messages by the delegation and supporters, as well as the throwing of objects onto the pitch during several of Argentina&#8217;s matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On an individual level, Nahuel Molina faces two counts of assault \u2014 one completed and one attempted \u2014 and one of unsporting behavior. Meanwhile, Leandro Paredes is the target of three counts of assault, while Thiago Almada will answer for unsporting behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lionel Scaloni&#8217;s assistant, former international Roberto Fabian Ayala, is also being investigated for an alleged assault. On the Spain side, midfielder Gavi is being prosecuted for a case of unsporting behavior. The parties involved will now have the opportunity to present their defense before the FIFA Disciplinary Committee issues a final decision.
