Milan’s new right-back Kyle Walker said on Monday, at his official presentation as a new ‘Rossoneri’ player, that he plays football \u201cfor passion, not for money\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walker, a brand new signing for a Milan side in need of a player capable of bringing winning experience, revealed at his presentation that the choice to go to Milan was an easy one once he decided to part ways with Manchester City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt’s clear that playing for Milan is a fantastic thing. It’s a step forward for my career to try a new experience. I thought it would be a great opportunity to play here and show my talent,\u201d said the full-back, who already experienced the comeback against Parma from the stands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 34-year-old could make his debut in the match against Inter Milan on Sunday, in the ‘Derby della Madonnina’, an opponent also special for him personally as it is against which he won his only Champions League in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWinning the Champions League would be a dream. I was able to experience it with City, but I also lost a final. I assure you that it’s better to receive the accolades than to give them to the winners. I experienced both situations. We’ll talk about that later, because it’s still early days,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He made it clear that he does not have a bonus in his contract for winning the continental trophy, in which Milan can still get into the top 8 to avoid a round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf there is talk of an economic bonus\u2026 the answer is no. I play football for passion, not for money. At City I didn’t play enough and that’s one of the reasons I came here. I want to win trophies and play more,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walker explained how the conversation with City’s Spanish manager Pep Guardiola went: \u201cIt was not an very comfortable conversation. City has been my family. But now I want to learn Italian, I still have a lot inside to achieve my goals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also spoke about his role as a leader in the Milan team. \u201cWith my age and my experience, that’s what I have to do. There is a lack of confidence linked to results. I think the new coach has a good idea. Discipline is needed now. That’s my role, which is not only related to the pitch. I have gained a lot and I come with that experience,\u201d he said.
