Ahead of Real Madrid’s clash with Elche, players wore T-shirts in support of Ceuta, but Konate, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius inadvertently obscured the message by only pulling them halfway down their chests.
The incident, which swiftly went viral on social media, did not stop there. While the other players kept the t-shirts on for the pre-match handshakes, Real Madrid trio Ibrahima Konate, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr had already taken theirs off.
The garment in question, worn at the initiative of Elche and also seen yesterday during the meeting between Villarreal and Betis, featured the slogan “Todos somos caballas”.
The gesture was intended to show solidarity with the autonomous city of Ceuta following the turmoil caused by the mass arrival of irregular migrants from Morocco last July.
