Mikel Arteta lamented Arsenal’s missed chances after their shock Carabao Cup exit to Fleetwood Town, while refusing to criticise Max Dowman’s controversial dismissal.
Mikel Arteta admitted Arsenal paid the price for their wastefulness after suffering a shock Carabao Cup fourth-round exit against Fleetwood Town.
The Gunners drew 1-1 despite Viktor Gyokeres scoring his first goal of the season, before losing 5-3 on penalties at Highbury Stadium.
“When we create the volume of shots and chances we did, you have to score three, four or five,” Arteta said, while praising his players’ attitude and intensity.
Asked about Max Dowman’s red card, the Spaniard refused to question the referee’s decision, admitting he had not seen the incident clearly.
