Brazilian Reinier Jesus, one of the promising signings made by Madrid in 2020, will leave the club this summer without having made his debut with the first team. The man who has been loaned out four times will play for Atletico Mineiro.
Reinier’s future has been completely decided. Although it has not yet been made official, the attacking midfielder will play for Atletico Mineiro, where he will try to settle in and regain his confidence and form after a five-year spell in Europe without much to show for it.
Many eyes were on him after his signing for Madrid was announced on January 20th, 2020. The ‘Merengues’, who had previously signed Vinicius and Rodrygo from the Brazilian market, continued with their transfer policy and signed Flamengo’s gem for €30 million.
Reinier showed promise at Mengao and later at Real Madrid’s reserve team. However, the player did not live up to expectations and the club decided to loan him out. There were a total of four loans: Borussia Dortmund (2020-2022), Girona (2022-23), Frosinone (2023-24), and Granada (2024-25).
He was unable to showcase his talents, and after his fourth return to the Spanish side, Madrid took advantage of Atletico Mineiro’s interest, and the ‘Galo’ has finalised his signing. The Brazilian will leave the ‘Merengues’ without even having made his debut in the first team.
