Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard’s futures at Arsenal are not fully sealed, reports ‘The Athletic’. The Gunners, who are looking to add to their wingers, could be tempted to sell the duo should important offers be brought to the table this summer.
Arsenal are set to head into the summer transfer window in search of a new striker. The Gunners have struggled without a main man upfront, with midfielder Mikel Merino having to play in a makeshift forward role due to the long-term absence of Kai Havertz due to injury.
However, a centre-forward option is not the only position they want to strengthen, as ‘The Athletic’ reports that options on the wings are also being assessed by the club. Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams and Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens are two players Arsenal have shown interest in.
But securing a new winger will most likely require a sale. Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard are two players who have been speculated to leave to make way for a new signing, though it is understood that, as things stand, they remain part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.
Arsenal’s stance may change should significant offers arrive for the duo. Martinelli, valued at above £50million, would bring in a lot of cash in an eventual sale, though he is said to be very happy at north London and still has two years plus an option to extend until 2028 in his contract.
Since landing in the English capital from Ituano in 2019, the 23-year-old has shown continuous growth. This season, the Brazilian has scored 10 goals and set up 5 more from 50 appearances for the Gunners. He is 6 goal contributions away from his best-ever campaign in 2022/23

Trossard’s situation ‘slightly’ different
Meanwhile, Trossard’s situation is slightly more complicated given his age. ‘The Athletic’ reports that the 30-year-old Belgian, running out of contract in June 2027, has been discussing a salary increase without extension via his representatives.
Talks are still ongoing, but should an agreement not be found, Trossard and Arsenal may look to part ways this summer. The former Brighton player has previously fielded interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, but also has admirers across Europe willing to bring him in.
Amin the club’s injury woes in 2024/25, Trossard has been an important asset for Arteta’s side. With 55 appearances under his belt, he has registered 10 goals and 8 assists, which is his second-best haul since joining Arsenal in January 2023.
Elsewhere on the wings, Raheem Sterling is expected to return to Chelsea at the end of his loan after having failed to impress with the Gunners, while Ethan Nwaneri is prepared to lock in his future at Arsenal with a new long-term deal and a clear pathway to regular first-team minutes.
