Marc Casado spoke to Barcelona’s official media after the Catalans’ crushing 6-0 victory over Valencia. The midfielder said that the win against ‘Los Ches’ was very important ahead of their Champions League opener against Newcastle.
Barcelona returned unstoppable after the international break in September, as seen in their crushing 6-0 victory over Valencia on matchday 4 of La Liga, which comes at just the right time ahead of their Champions League opener against Newcastle.
Marc Casado, who started against ‘Los Ches’ and assisted Fermin Lopez for the third goal of the match, wanted to stress the importance of the victory after the bad feelings they had before the international break and in view of what lies ahead.
“We knew we had to win today, no matter what, and I think the team entered the match with those ambitions, realizing that victory was a must. We did the things that needed to be done, and in the second half we were able to widen the score gap,” he said.
“I think the team was fantastic, both defensively and offensively. I also believe that Valencia didn’t have many chances up front because we knew how to control the ball and move them around effectively. I believe this win gives the team the confidence needed to face the first match in the Champions League, which will surely go well,” he added.
In addition, the Spanish midfielder also wanted to highlight Marc Bernal’s return from injury. “We are all very happy for Marc Bernal, as he is ultimately a wonderful person and a great player who suffered a serious injury. We are all thrilled with his return, that he is now doing well, and that he was able to provide a decisive assist.”
