Kylian Mbappe reached the incredible milestone of 50 goals for Real Madrid after scoring twice in Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Olympique Marseille in the opening match of the Champions League.
Kylian Mbappe is beginning to regain his best form at Real Madrid. Although the French striker ended his debut season at Real Madrid with 44 goals and the 2024/25 Golden Boot, many fans doubted whether he would still be able to return to his best in his new position as a striker for ‘Los Blancos’.
However, the France international has started the 2025/26 season like a rocket, proving to be the star player of Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid, scoring six goals and providing one assist in just five official matches, the most recent being the victory against Olympique Marseille.
The Bondy native was instrumental in Real Madrid taking all three points on another magical night at the Santiago Bernabeu in their Champions League opener against the Ligue 1 side. Weah opened the scoring after a serious mistake by Arda Guler, but Mbappe came to his teammates’ rescue by converting a penalty that was awarded after Rodrygo was clearly brought down in the area.
In the second half, with his side down to 10 men after Carvajal was sent off, the French striker once again took responsibility from the penalty spot and put the Merengues ahead, who held on to secure the victory.
The two penalty goals against the French team brought Kylian Mbappe’s goal tally for Real Madrid to 50, achieving this feat in practically just one season with the Spanish side. In fact, although some may think that Mbappe’s form at Real Madrid is worse than at Paris Saint-Germain, it took him more games to reach this goal tally with the Parisian team.
Signed from Monaco, Mbappe made his debut on 8th September 2017 with the Parc des Princes team, and scored his 50th goal on 2 March 2019 against Caen, giving his team the victory with that late winner. Therefore, ‘Kyky’ took 1 year, 5 months and 22 days to reach that figure with PSG.
On the other hand, the France international made his debut on 14th August 2024 with ‘Los Blancos’, and it was not until the recent victory of the ‘Merengues’ against Olympique Marseille on 16th September 2025 that he reached his 50 goals as a ‘Madridista’. In other words, it took him only 1 year, 1 month and 2 days, about 4 months faster than at Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe’s goal tally is not only a clear indication of his offensive contribution to the team, but also of the importance of his goals in the context of the match, as one of the Frenchman’s specialities at Real Madrid is opening the scoring. Of his first 50 goals with ‘Los Blancos’, 20 have been the first goal of the match and 22 have put his team ahead on the scoreboard. Of those 50 goals so far, eight have been enough to secure victory for the Santiago Bernabeu side.
Furthermore, it is not exactly the case that the former PSG star inflates his statistics against smaller teams, as since his arrival at Real Madrid his favourite victims have been two giants, FC Barcelona and Manchester City. The Catalans have been the opponents who have conceded the most goals to Kylian Mbappé since he arrived in Spain (5 in 4 matches), followed by the Cityzens (4 in 2 matches), Celta (4 in 3 matches) and Real Sociedad (4 in 4 matches).
