Barcelona director Deco has confirmed that the club is in the final stages of agreeing a new deal for Frenkie de Jong, with negotiations delayed only by changes involving the midfielder’s agents.
Speaking to TV3, Deco explained: “Frenkie had some changes regarding his agents, we waited for that to be resolved. This issue has nothing to do with money. We’re now in the final stages. It will be done soon.”
The extension, reported by Fabrizio Romano, is expected to keep him at Camp Nou until 2029, maintaining his current salary of around €18-19 million per year.
The deal provides Barcelona with crucial stability in midfield as the club continues to navigate financial challenges.
Since joining the Catalan giants in 2019, De Jong has been a key figure in the squad, and this long-term commitment signals the club’s intent to build around the Dutch international for the coming years.
