German official Felix Zwayer assigned to Tuesday’s World Cup European Qualifier between Spain and Turkey.
German referee Felix Zwayer has been appointed by UEFA to officiate Tuesday’s Spain-Turkey match, the final fixture in the FIFA World Cup European Qualifiers, to be played at the La Cartuja stadium in Seville, kicking off at 20:45 CET.
Zwayer will be assisted by fellow Germans Robert Kempter and Christian Dietz, with Sven Jablonski as the fourth official. Bastian Dankert and Daniel Schlager will serve as the VAR officials.
The Berlin-born referee, a 44-year-old estate agent and international official since 2012, will take charge of his third Spain national team match. ‘La Roja’ won 2-0 against France at the Stade de France on 28 March 2017 with goals from David Silva and Gerard Deulofeu, and beat Croatia in a penalty shootout in Rotterdam in the Nations League final on 18 June 2023 (0-0, 5-4).
That Nations League final marked the first international final of his career. This year, he officiated four matches at the European Championship, including the semi-final between England and the Netherlands.
