Brazil international Rodrygo Goes has now played 30 matches without scoring for Real Madrid, equalling Mariano Diaz’s record for a forward at the club.
Rodrygo Goes is experiencing a challenging period in his career. The Brazil international, who has seen his playing time fluctuate, has struggled to find the net despite opportunities afforded to him by Carlo Ancelotti, whether starting or coming off the bench.
Against Girona, the former Santos player reached a milestone no forward desires. The winger now shares the record for the most consecutive matches without scoring for Real Madrid.
The Sao Paulo native has now gone 30 matches without finding the net for ‘Los Blancos’. His last goal for the club was recorded earlier in the season. In total, he has gone 1,339 minutes without a goal, as highlighted by ‘Mr. Chip’.
Of these 30 matches, he started 14 and came on as a substitute in 16. This 30-game run equals the mark previously set by Mariano Díaz for Real Madrid, from 21 November 2020, when he scored against Villarreal, until 15 May 2022, in a match against Cádiz where he broke his drought.
With the match against Girona, Rodrygo has now surpassed the 29-match scoreless streak of Rafa Marañón, another player who endured a lengthy wait to find the net again.
