Rayo Vallecano forward Randy Nteka has launched a blistering social media attack on the match officials following a contentious draw with Real Sociedad, branding the refereeing a “robbery”.
Rayo Vallecano forward Randy Nteka has hit out at what he termed a “robbery and a complete lack of respect” during Sunday’s clash with Real Sociedad. The Angolan international was left incensed after referee Jose Luis Guzman Mansilla disallowed two Rayo goals following VAR reviews, one of which resulted in a penalty being awarded at the other end for a prior infringement.
Despite the officiating drama, Rayo Vallecano showed immense resilience to salvage a vital point in stoppage time. Brazilian forward Alemao struck late to bolster their survival hopes as the hosts battled back against Real Sociedad, overcoming a Mikel Oyarzabal brace and an Orri Óskarsson strike, all while contending with the frustration of having two goals chalked off by VAR.
“What a robbery and what a lack of respect. Then every season they come and give us talks about respect… Absolute rubbish. We’ll focus on the positives. Vallecas never gives up. This team has massive balls,” Nteka declared on social media in the aftermath of the game.
“Beyond all this, thank you all for supporting us and cheering us on in every match. Today’s performance represents what Rayo is all about. We will always fight. I love you, Rayistas,” he concluded.
