Barcelona’s sporting director has reportedly arrived in the Spanish capital to broker a deal for the Argentine international.
FC Barcelona remain undeterred in their pursuit of Julian Alvarez. The forward has emerged as the club’s primary target, with the Catalan giants prepared to test Atletico de Madrid’s resolve right up until the transfer deadline. According to reports from ‘Jijantes’ and ‘Sport’, the coming hours will see a high-level summit in the Spanish capital aimed at unlocking a deal for the Argentine international.
The Blaugrana’s sporting director, Anderson Luis de Souza ‘Deco’, reportedly travelled to Madrid this Tuesday alongside his associate, Joao Amaral. The pair are scheduled to meet with Fernando Hidalgo, the representative of the striker nicknamed ‘La Arana’, at a discreet location in the city.
As has been the case throughout the window, Atletico de Madrid remain the primary obstacle. The Rojiblancos have maintained a defiant stance, criticising media speculation and condemning Barcelona’s alleged attempts to turn the player’s head, while reiterating that they have no intention of sanctioning a sale. Nevertheless, Julian Alvarez has already gone public with his desire to move on. “The best thing for everyone is a transfer,” he declared during the Copa, and while the player is not currently expected to force a move through formal rebellion, his stance remains firm.
During the meeting with Fernando Hidalgo, Barca’s hierarchy and the agent are expected to map out a strategy to evaluate the next steps required to bring the forward to the Camp Nou.
