Los Blancos have improved their offer following a high-level meeting with the Brazilian’s representatives, but a deadlock over image rights is stalling the deal.
Negotiations between Real Madrid and Vinicius Jr’s representatives intensified on Wednesday. According to reports from ‘GE’ and ‘ESPN’, the Bernabeu hierarchy tabled an improved offer, sparking a fresh wave of optimism within the Brazil international’s camp regarding a contract extension.
Speculation surrounding the Madrid talisman’s future has mounted in recent weeks, with his current deal set to expire in June 2027. Some reports even suggested that Los Merengues could be tempted to cash in on their 26-year-old star if a swift resolution to the contract saga was not reached.
Wednesday’s high-level summit featured key club figures, most notably executive director José Ángel Sánchez and chief scout Juni Calafat, who met with agents Frederico Peña and Tata Soares to discuss the forward’s future.
Real Madrid had already proposed a salary of €22 million per year earlier in the week, effectively breaking a deadlock that had persisted for over twelve months. However, despite this significant financial step, the distribution of image rights remains the primary sticking point.
For his part, Vinicius Jr is understood to be targeting a salary in the region of €30 million per year. The iconic number ‘7’ currently takes home approximately €17.5 million per season.
Amid the ongoing negotiations in the Spanish capital, Arsenal have emerged as potential suitors for the Brazilian. However, the player’s inner circle was quick to distance themselves from the rumours, denying any formal contact with the Gunners.
