Barcelona midfielder Rodri Hernandez has issued a public apology to Valencia supporters following the Champions League clash against Feyenoord.
“Given the controversy sparked by the video the other day, in this life when you make a mistake you have to front up and apologise, and this is one of those times,” admitted Rodri after footage emerged of him labelling Valencia players “very bad”.
“I would like to apologise to anyone who may have felt offended: Valencia supporters, fans, players—anyone at all. I have already had a direct conversation with my friend Jose Gaya, reaching out to him and the entire squad. I want to make it clear that it was an expression of shock, which is plain to see for anyone watching the video. At no point did I intend to mock or capitalise on any club’s difficult spell—quite the opposite,” he explained.
The FC Barcelona man stressed that he wants Valencia “to return to where they belong”, reiterating that they should be “one of the best clubs in this league”.
“I want to make clear that it was a private conversation and things may have been taken out of context, but I never meant any disrespect,” concluded the Madrid-born midfielder.
