According to ‘Marca’, the Higher Sports Council has asked the RFEF for a detailed report on the arguments supporting La Liga’s decision to take the Villarreal-Barcelona match to Miami. The move comes after the body received a formal complaint from Real Madrid, who believe the so-called ‘Miami plan’ clearly distorts the competition.
The proposed Villarreal vs Barcelona match in Miami continues to generate significant controversy. Following instructions from the AFE, the players already protested this matchday with a brief stoppage of play at the start of matches, and now the Higher Sports Council (CSD) is also raising concerns.
According to ‘Marca’, the CSD has requested detailed information from the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) regarding the arguments supporting LaLiga’s decision to take the match between the ‘groguets’ and ‘cules’ to Miami.
According to the aforementioned source, the CSD’s request comes after Real Madrid expressed their dissatisfaction to the body regarding this situation, as the ‘Los Blancos’ believe that holding the match outside of Spain clearly distorts the competition.
For the time being, it seems that LaLiga’s ‘Miami plan’, which has been aiming to take a match from the tournament to the United States for years, is still underway, although the intervention or mediation of the CSD could represent a new chapter in a saga that seems to have no end.
