Bernardo Silva is shaping up to be one of the major names of the upcoming transfer window. With his time at Manchester City seemingly coming to an end, several European giants are already positioning themselves to secure the Portuguese playmaker.
According to AS, Bernardo Silva has recently been offered to Real Madrid ahead of next season. However, despite the player’s pedigree and experience at the elite level, the midfielder is reportedly not part of Los Blancos’ current plans.
The Portuguese international remains highly regarded across Europe, with clubs such as Juventus, AC Milan and Barcelona all linked with his situation. Yet it is Atletico Madrid who appear to be pushing hardest.
Reports from Marca claim the Colchoneros have already made enquiries about Bernardo Silva as they look to reshape their attacking structure for the future. Within the club, the Portuguese star is viewed as the ideal figure to inherit the creative responsibility currently carried by Antoine Griezmann.
Atletico see Bernardo not only as a marquee signing, but also as the potential new leader of the project under Diego Simeone.
The biggest obstacle remains financial. His salary demands are expected to be considerable, particularly given the level of interest surrounding him and his status after years competing at the very top with Manchester City.
Even so, Atletico’s board are reportedly exploring formulas to make the operation viable, convinced that the Portuguese midfielder could become one of the defining signings of their new era.
For now, negotiations remain at an early stage, but with a long summer ahead and the World Cup set to further raise the player’s profile, his future is quickly becoming one of the market’s most intriguing storylines.
