According to ‘Mundo Deportivo’, Julian Alvarez has decided his next representative will be Pablo Barquero, best known for managing Barcelona’s Rodri Hernandez.
The Argentine forward decided to part ways with Fernando Hidalgo in recent weeks. The representative bore heavy responsibility for the summer transfer saga surrounding a potential switch to Barcelona, prompting ‘The Spider’ to wipe the slate clean in an effort to safeguard relations with his current club.
Among the names Julian Alvarez sounded out during this period were Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes and former footballer Javier Pastore, who handles his compatriot Enzo Fernandez. Ultimately, however, everything points towards the Spaniard landing the role.
The striker’s connection with Pablo Barquero dates back to his time at Manchester City, where he already shared a dressing room with Rodri and forged a close relationship. Barquero brokered the Ballon d’Or winner’s move to Barcelona—the destination that appeals most to the forward—yet the Argentine appears drawn above all to the agent’s proven track record, coupled with a far lower media profile.
