FC Barcelona and Real Sociedad have reached an agreement for Hector Fort, though the transfer hinges on the player’s approval as he favours Borussia Dortmund.
FC Barcelona’s summer clear-out is gathering pace, with the Catalan giants taking a decisive step on Wednesday regarding the future of Hector Fort. According to ‘Jijantes’ and ‘Mundo Deportivo’, the full-back’s move to Real Sociedad is imminent, pending only the player’s final green light.
Both outlets report that the primary ambition for Fort, who spent last season on loan at Elche, remains a switch to Borussia Dortmund. The German outfit tabled an appealing offer for the Barcelona native some time ago, but negotiations have since stalled, prompting the defender’s representatives to issue an ultimatum to Signal Iduna Park.
Hector Fort has also attracted interest from Nottingham Forest and Everton, but Real Sociedad have pursued the 20-year-old academy graduate most aggressively. Should the player give the go-ahead, the deal will be finalised for €8.5 million, with Barca retaining 50% of his sell-on rights alongside a €20 million buy-back clause.
