Dani Carvajal bids an emotional farewell to Real Madrid, expressing gratitude for the “magical nights” at the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid captain Daniel Carvajal will part ways with the club at the end of this season after 13 illustrious campaigns and 27 trophies. The defender assured fans he departs “with peace of mind,” having “fulfilled” the promise he made during his unveiling to “give every last breath” to elevate the club.
“Madridistas, one of the most challenging moments of my life has arrived. This weekend, I will wear our shirt for the final time. I still remember that day in 2002 when I received the best gift a child could imagine: the centenary kit for my first communion and the news that I would join the Real Madrid academy,” Carvajal began in an emotional video shared on his social media.
Reflecting on his journey, Carvajal highlighted his decade in Real Madrid’s academy, including the historic promotion to the Spanish second tier with Real Madrid’s reserve team, the club’s reserve team.
“That dreamer of a boy could never have imagined he was embarking on the journey of a lifetime. Those ten unforgettable years climbing through every level of La Fabrica shaped me as a footballer and, more importantly, as a person. It was there I learned what it truly means to defend this badge. Being a Madridista isn’t just about playing football; it’s a way of life,” he said.
“In 2012, we achieved that historic promotion with Castilla, a moment I hold especially close to my heart. Then, after a year in Germany, I returned home. I came back to the place I always dreamed of being. My dream was becoming a reality, but the best was yet to come,” he added.
Over the course of 13 seasons, Carvajal celebrated the club’s triumphs and the electrifying atmosphere of the Santiago Bernabeu.
“Since then, we’ve shared nights that will forever be etched in history and in my heart. La Decima, three consecutive Champions League titles, league victories, incredible comebacks… Two more European Cups lifted in a Santiago Bernabeu that roared like never before. Only those who have been inside this stadium can truly understand the magic of this club when it defies the impossible,” he stated.
Carvajal also reflected on the challenges he faced, including a serious knee injury in October 2024.
“The journey wasn’t always smooth. There were injuries, setbacks, and moments of doubt that tested me. But I always, always got back up. If there’s one thing this badge has taught me, it’s to never give up,” he remarked.
In closing, Carvajal expressed his pride and gratitude for his time at Real Madrid.
“On the day of my presentation, I promised to give every last breath on the pitch to make this club and this team better. Today, with six Champions League titles and 27 trophies to my name, I leave with peace of mind knowing I kept my word,” he said.
“After more than 450 matches, giving absolutely everything, all I can do is thank you. Thank you for every cheer, for every magical night, for pushing us to achieve the impossible, and for making the Bernabeu the place where dreams come true. Thank you for standing by me in the tough moments, for your unwavering support, and for making me feel part of something far greater than myself,” he continued.
“I leave with my heart full and an eternal sense of pride, knowing I gave everything for this club. Being a Madridista isn’t something you explain; it’s something you feel. Farewell, Real Madrid,” he concluded.
Dani Carvajal will bid farewell as a Real Madrid player during the final league match of the season, set for this Saturday against Athletic Club at the Santiago Bernabeu.
