Spain midfielder Fabian Ruiz discusses his return to the national team after injury and anticipation for the upcoming World Cup qualifier in Seville.
PSG’s Spanish midfielder, Fabian Ruiz, has rejoined the Spain national team squad after missing the previous two call-ups due to injury. He anticipates a significant conclusion to the European World Cup Qualifiers in Seville, amidst family and friends, for the upcoming match against Turkey, which he described as “eagerly anticipating.”
Since the Nations League final last summer, where Spain lost to Portugal in a penalty shootout, Fabian has been unable to feature for ‘La Roja’. He will now do so against Georgia and Turkey in the final two fixtures of the European World Cup Qualifiers, having been selected by manager Luis de la Fuente.
“I was really looking forward to returning; I missed two squad selections with my teammates, and I am very happy to be back in the squad for two very important matches,” he stated upon his arrival at the training camp.
“We are one step away from qualifying for another World Cup. These will be two very difficult matches, and we are eager and excited. We hope to secure two victories and qualify for the World Cup as group winners,” he added.
Fabian expressed his delight at returning to play for the national team in Seville, with his family and friends in attendance at La Cartuja.
“The first match is away, against a great friend like Kvaratskhelia; and the second, it couldn’t be better: in a city like Seville. I couldn’t have asked for a better return to the national team, in front of all my people. I’m sure it will be a very special match, in front of my family and friends. I am eager for that day to arrive,” he concluded.
