In the wake of their Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern, Real Madrid’s French duo took to social media; the midfielder expressed regret over a pivotal error, while the forward promised a swift return to winning ways.
Real Madrid are still coming to terms with a stinging Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern. Despite the setback, the ‘Merengues’ displayed plenty of grit, battling until the final whistle against the Bavarian giants.
However, the tie swung decisively when the side led by Arbeloa was reduced to ten men. Eduardo Camavinga paid the price for a momentary lapse in judgment, picking up a second yellow card for attempting to obstruct an opponent’s quick free-kick.
Posting via an Instagram ‘story’, the midfielder was quick to shoulder the blame: “I take responsibility for my part. I want to apologize to my team and all Madridistas. Thank you for your support. Hala Madrid, always,” he wrote.
In a similar vein, Kylian Mbappe shared a message reinforcing Real Madrid’s uncompromising winning culture, promising the fans an immediate response. “We fought until the end, but it wasn’t enough. It’s painful to be knocked out of such a prestigious competition, but we must look ahead. We have to reflect deeply to ensure this doesn’t happen again. We will never give up!!! At Madrid, failure is not, and never will be, an option. But I promise you this: we will win again, and very soon,” the French talisman declared.
