Kylian Mbappe, despite being unavailable for Real Madrid due to his recent injury, has made headlines in Spain over the weekend for reasons off the pitch, which could nevertheless have repercussions on his professional career.
The French striker was given the green light by the club to rest and take a few days off after his injury was confirmed. However, what the ‘Merengue’ side did not expect was for the former PSG star to be so easily spotted on a romantic getaway with his partner Ester Exposito in Sardinia.
The behaviour of the ‘Los Blancos’ striker has been heavily criticised by a large section of Real Madrid’s supporters on social media, and according to ‘AS’, the Frenchman’s conduct has also been questioned internally at Valdebebas.
Furthermore, according to reports in the Spanish press, some of the French striker’s teammates may well be annoyed by these images that have come to light, including those of him getting off the plane in Madrid minutes before the match against Espanyol kicked off, where Madrid secured a hard-fought victory over the Catalan side to delay Barcelona’s title celebrations.
Manager Álvaro Arbeloa was asked after the victory over the ‘Pericos’ about Mbappe’s whirlwind trip, to which the Spanish manager replied that he would not comment on what the Frenchman did in his spare time, leaving it unclear whether or not he would feature in next Sunday’s ‘Clásico’.
