Hansi Flick, Barcelona’s coach, addresses the press after a 1-0 loss to Alaves, steering clear of Florentino Perez’s allegations against the club.
Florentino Perez’s remarks on the ‘Negreira case’ and FC Barcelona reverberated through the press room at Mendizorroza. When journalist Helena Condis from ‘COPE’ questioned him about the Real Madrid president’s accusations, Hansi Flick opted to remain silent.
Reflecting on the match, the German manager expressed being “satisfied” with his side’s display, despite the 1-0 defeat to Alaves. He noted that Barcelona dominated possession but conceded that the hosts had much to fight for.
“I saw a highly motivated team,” Flick remarked during the press conference, commending the contributions of the younger players. However, he lamented the goal conceded just before halftime, which dashed the team’s hopes of reaching 100 points this season.
On Alvaro Cortes’s debut, Flick delivered a glowing review of the youngster’s performance. “He excelled, particularly in aerial battles. He was outstanding, and his counterattacking ability is a real asset,” the coach said, applauding the confidence displayed by the debutant.
“This is exactly what I expect from young players when they train with us or feature for Barca Atletic: to give their all and prove they are ready,” reiterated Flick, who once again refrained from addressing Florentino Perez’s comments.
The coach also highlighted the unique bond fostered at La Masia, where years of shared development create a deep sense of synergy among players.
“I saw many things I deeply value. Now, we turn our focus to preparing for the next match,” he concluded.
