Raul Asencio continues to battle a shin issue dating back to last season, with surgery now a real possibility.
There is still no light at the end of the tunnel for the Madrid academy graduate. Having only just overcome a muscular problem, the defender has now been halted by a persistent shin issue.
The problem is nothing new, having plagued him since last season. Spanish outlet ‘Marca’ reports that the player has already embarked on conservative treatment in a bid to avoid going under the knife.
Should his condition fail to improve, surgery will remain the only viable course of action. If forced to undergo an operation, the Real Madrid man faces an estimated recovery period of between six and eight weeks.
Notably, Raul Asencio does not feature in Jose Mourinho’s plans and has been placed on the transfer list. However, his chances of securing a departure during the current transfer window are now looking increasingly slim.
